and causes to people
How to Timeraise | A Brief Timeraiser HistoryTimeraiser was conceptualized in 2002 in response to a group of friends wondering how it could be easier to find meaningful, relevant volunteer opportunities.
National expansion of the program began in 2006 with the 1st Calgary Timeraiser. A strategy was then developed for further growth with 2 cities added in 2008 - Vancouver and Ottawa - and an additional 2 in 2009 - Hamilton and Edmonton. We plan to reach 10 cities by 2012 - including Montreal and Halifax. This expansion was conceptualized with manageable, meaningful growth being a priority – how to grow rather than why to grow. The focus remained on nurturing vital local partnerships, engaging enthusiastic and skilled local volunteers while going deeper into existing cities. We have been able to incorporate our experiences from each city to empower local teams of volunteers, building on our collective knowledge and skills. Our experience has been that the Timeraiser’s success is directly linked fostering partnerships with local organizations and empowering local volunteers with the tools, information and opportunity to support to the program. |
