FRAMEWORK FOUNDATION LAUNCHES “TIMERAISER150” NATIONAL EVENT SERIES THAT CELEBRATES GIVING THE GIFT OF TIME

The Canada 150 Signature Project features events in 10 cities and online, allowing Canadians from coast to coast to bid on artwork from local artists in exchange for volunteer hours.

Toronto, ON (October 13, 2016) – Framework Foundation today announced Timeraiser150, a Canada 150 Signature Project that will allow Canadians to give the gift of time while supporting emerging Canadian artists.

With support from the Government of Canada, Framework Foundation will host Timeraiser150 events in each of Canada’s ten provinces in 2017. The events come to life as large-scale art auctions that support emerging Canadian artists. Attendees can place bids by pledging up to 100 volunteer hours – in lieu of money – to be spent with local non-profit organizations.

The project is a recipient of $500,000 from the Government of Canada’s “Canada 150 Fund,” an initiative aimed at creating activities and special events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

"Timeraiser150 is a win-win-win for everyone involved; it supports Canadians artists, matches nonprofits with skilled volunteers, and allows individuals to give back while acquiring beautiful artwork,” said Jaime Robson, Managing Director of Timeraiser150. “We are so appreciative to be part of Canada’s 150th celebration by providing this rewarding, cultural experience to Canadians while giving them an avenue to do good and have fun.”

“The Canada 150 Fund is creating engaging experiences for Canadians to celebrate what makes us proud and unique as a nation,” said The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. “The Timeraiser150 event brings to life the Canadian spirit of volunteerism and civic engagement, highlighting the value everyone brings to their community, and showcasing the talent of Canadian artists.”

The Timeraiser150 event series kicks off during National Volunteer Week, on April 27th with events happening in cities across Canada’s provinces throughout the year. For those who cannot attend in person, Framework Foundation has developed “Online150”, a portal that will allow Canadians across the country to bid on art online and volunteer with local nonprofits.

Through the Timeraiser150 initiative, Framework aims to collectively raise more than 150,000 volunteer hours for non-profits across Canada. To learn more about Timeraiser150 and the different events happening across the country and online, visit Timeraiser.ca.
